A re-design project for Oxford University Press, from their ‘A Very Short Introduction’ series. The primary aim was to design a cohesive series set for book jackets, whilst reflecting the theme/contents of the book, alongside making it visually interesting and engaging. This project also required us to adhere the detailed brand guidelines provided by Oxford University Press whilst also ensuring that all images and/or illustrations were produced by us. I decided to choose ‘Horror’, ‘Magic, and ‘The Gothic’ as the focus for my series design, alongside an illustrative approach to develop the series with a sense of uniqueness. The featured illustration style is a mixture of
cross-hatching, taking inspiration from woodblock engravings whilst capturing the contents of the book. This project also provided a valuable experience in regards with receiving feedback from fellow designers at Oxford University Press on the book jackets.
